Availability
All Blackcat plastic cards issued after 1 August 2020 support contactless payments.
Older cards without this feature have already expired.
You can confirm whether your card supports contactless payments by checking the antenna symbol (wave icon) on the back of the card, near the signature panel and CVC code.
Activation
Before you can use contactless payments, the card must be activated with one operation using the PIN at an ATM or POS terminal.
After that, the contactless function becomes available.
Limits without PIN
For security reasons, contactless transactions without entering a PIN are limited:
Maximum of 5 consecutive transactions without PIN entry.
Combined total of up to €150.
Once either limit is reached, the next transaction will require inserting the card and entering the PIN. After successful confirmation, the cycle resets, and contactless payments become available again.
Security notes
These limits are set by Mastercard rules and cannot be changed or disabled.
If a transaction is declined due to limits, simply use your card with PIN to continue using contactless later.
For higher-value purchases (over €150) or when required by the merchant, you will always be asked to confirm with PIN or biometrics.
